Jamaican Iguana: The image of the Jamaican Iguana (Cyclura collei) was taken in Jamaica. The coloration of the iguana is coated with red dirt from its borrow. The Jamaican Iguana is now the most critically endangered Cyclura. Once found throughout Jamaica and on offshore islets Great Goat Island and Little Goat Island, it is now confined to the forests of the Hellshire hills. There are ongoing efforts to to secure Goat Islands as a protected reserve. The Goat Islands are under serious threat of being used by the Chinese for a seaport, which could kill off a rare iguana and damage ecotourism. Support “Save Goat Islands”!
